Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Apple Watch workout not appear in the plan?

RunCoachSync links HealthKit workouts to plan days by matching date and duration. Make sure the workout completed on your Watch has finished syncing to the Health app. Pull to refresh the workout list to trigger a re-scan.

What is a Race Journey?

A Race Journey is a multi-phase training program automatically built from your race date. It sequences base-building, build, and race-specific phases back-to-back so you arrive at the start line prepared. Set your race date and distance and the app calculates everything. Note: this is a Pro feature.

How is readiness score calculated?

Readiness is derived from recent resting heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), and training load relative to your rolling baseline, all sourced from Apple Health. A score above 70 generally indicates you're recovered and ready for quality work; below 50 suggests prioritizing easy runs or rest. The score is for informational purposes only. Note: this is a Pro feature.

Can I use RunCoachSync without an Apple Watch?

Yes. You can create and manage training plans, log runs manually, and view plan progress without a Watch. You can also see and track runs directly on your phone in the Apple Fitness app. Apple Watch is required for live workout guidance and automatic HealthKit workout linking.

Does RunCoachSync sync workouts to Garmin or other fitness watches?

No. Pushing structured workouts from RunCoachSync to a wrist device is supported for Apple Watch only. Garmin, Samsung, Coros, and other non-Apple fitness watches are not supported for that sync. You may still record runs on those devices and, if they write to Apple Health, some data may appear in Health for context—but the app does not send plan workouts to those watches.

How do I share a plan with a runner I coach?

Switch to the Coach profile, open the plan, tap the share icon, and enter the runner's Apple ID. They'll receive a CloudKit share invitation. Once accepted, the plan appears in their RunCoachSync app under their Runner profile. Note: this is a Pro feature.

I missed a workout. What should I do?

Open the plan on the missed day and tap "Log missed workout." RunCoachSync will offer adjustment proposals (reschedule, reduce the next workout, or absorb the miss) based on where you are in the plan.

How do I delete all my data?

Deleting the app removes all local data. To remove iCloud-stored plans and settings, go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → RunCoachSync → Delete Data.

Do training plans guarantee I'll hit my goal time?

No. Training plans are personalized estimates based on established exercise science methodology. Individual results depend on many factors including current fitness, health, consistency, sleep, nutrition, and environmental conditions. Completing a plan does not guarantee achievement of any specific goal time or performance outcome. Plans are tools to guide your preparation — not promises about race day.
